Now, was that "Twineball" italicised for emphasis, or language?

e6 being a position from which a White Knight could threaten (or take) the Black Queen, assuming everything else was in its starting position.

And "take my wife, please" is properly attibuted to Henny Youngman.

Should that be "King to e6", then?

MuttTwine: Mutt 2008-10-10 06:28

No, a King can't threaten anything from a Knight's move away... although it can keep things pinned in conjunction with something else. It pretty much can't ever take a queen, especially not one ostensibly on its side. If he wanted to get rid of his wife, he'd have to send her off to get killed by rampaging castles.*

(Skiff says "knight to e6" describes a knight moving to that square.)

Just say "whatever" and distract him with food if she wouldn't understand. :D

*Palisande, misquoting Lady Macbeth, remarks "The rook himself is hoarse that croaks His Majesty's fatal entrance under my battlements." *eyes her uneasily*

Ah, I thought it would have been the husband (ie Black King) talking to the knight presumed to be on e6, telling him to take the Black Queen.

Something like...

cerebrum to fist: bunch!
spleen to cerebrum: Should I bunch, too?
cerebrum to spleen: Shut the hell up, nobody's talking to you!

Nah, it's chess speak, as in "rook to h1, check".

For the jigsaw, did you have something planned, or hope someone else runs with it?

Not that I have a particular idea, just, well, general question.

I have the beginnings of an idea. I do know what's on it.

What's depicted on the jigsaw, that is...

It's a blue background and the pieces look like they're a picture of a girl. Not anyone recognisable, not any of the characters present.

If you wanna have Nico [or anyone else] examine a piece, it'll be midnight blue with what looks like a silver crescent moon on it.

OK, pyrotechnics as ordered. I don't have any more clues up my sleeves, just the payoff.
