Just to let y'all know, my web hosting has gone kaputsky. It's just temporary. I hope.

Moonburnt is not down; it's hosted on a different server than the rest of pokitty.com. I gave up on MiniBB and have been happily modifying PunBB instead. Feel free to check it out and see if you like (and complain if you don't -- better to know now than later!). The old version, which some of you may remember from a short bit of the Pro Party, is hiding but alive as well.

Oh dear, I know this is a bit of a muddle... Eep! I need some help.

I've booked to fly out to Helsinki airport on the 12th August and stay with a friend I've made at uni. However, I haven't been able to get in touch with her for about 2 weeks. I've sent emails to every account she has, I've sent text messages and left messages on her blog and her answer phone... no replies. I tried international direct enquiries to see if I could get her home number, but apparently there are 50 people living in Helsinki with her surname, and I don't know either of her parents' initials or even which one she's living with at the moment. I even got very paranoid and googled her name. No hits.

I'm not sure what to do. As far as I know she doesn't have my flight details, but she might do... and I don't wana turn up in Helsinki without knowing someone's going to be there.

Does anyone have any ideas? And, I'm really sorry to have to ask this but, if the worst comes to the worst and I arrive and she's not there... Song or Candy... I'm so sorry but do you think you could maybe put up with me for a few nights until I can either get in touch with her or get an earlier flight home? I'm so sorry to have to ask you guys this, but I don't know what else to do.

Okay. Well, first off, I live kinda far from Helsinki. Jyväskylä is some four hours by bus from Helsinki. So I really don't know if it would be worth it for you to come all the way here. >.> But, well, if you really need some place to stay, there's free space here as all my roomies are out for the summer. ^^ But Snog lives way closer to Helsinki.

I assume you don't know your friend's address or anything? There are also some affordable hostels near the centre if you'd rather stay in Helsinki.

True, I live way closer to Helsinki. I hope you're not intimidated by dogs and farm stuff, though, because that's pretty much what you'd be getting into here. *g*

I hope your friend gets in contact, & especially hope she wasn't on that helicopter. *worries every time a disaster in Finland comes on tv, though will furiously deny this*

Thanks you guys for your kind offers, but luckily for you, I shan't be imposing. Laura got in touch about 5 mins ago to say she'd just got back from her cousin's wedding in the middle of nowhere (hence no internet/mobile signal, etc) and was fine about picking me up very very late on Friday night (curses to KLM).

And no, none of my relatives/friends on that helicopter. My grandparents were going to go over to Tallinn by ship, but the weather was apparently bad enough for ships to not cruise the lines.

Hey! Laura and I are planning a day trip to Tallin too! I'd love to see you if you're free between tomorrow and the 21st August... except I don't know how long we'll be spending in Helsinki and how soon we'll be heading off to Laura's summer house in the country. Anyone for elevennis?

I aten't heading to Tallinn at all, and school starts on the 22nd. Plus, confirmation on 21st in our house. Kid brother's actually managed to make it through the damn camp, surprisingly...
