We have Sylvie and probably Basaltine in the taproom - Anke posted here in the discussion thread.
And oww, commiserations on the browser crash! I hated it (when I still used IE) when it used to shut down for no reason.
Firefox's "Session Manager" extension has saved one or two posts-in-progress for me before from crashes and the like. Even power cuts. Useful little thing.
I can't suggest anything to stop IE's little foibles other than perhaps writing drafts in Notepad or something similar. A bit of a pain, but possibly a good habit to get into - then at least you can save it at any point.
I knew the name Offwhite City would come back to bite me someday. I just didn't expect "someday" to be "whenever I see someone's location listed as 'Office: White City - Media Centre' in Outlook". HMM.
(And yes, it was a pun on the various White Citys around the UK. There was a retail park named that, where we used to go bowling.)
I'd like to point out that woooooo new computer
Ooh, congrats on the new compy!
Hurrah for the hardware!
So true. I have been reading this with great hilarity.
The desk exploding especially.
I am posting this from Gorgonite, the squidgy Archos 7.
4th attempt to type in Pro password, FAIL... teach me to use weird chars in it.
I'd just like to point out the UTTERLY ridiculous thing I drew tonight in a fit of idiocy, when I could have been doing something like writing the Engineers.

I'm offering internet cookies to the first writer and character to point to Jaina, in Character Chat, that Weft could conceivably been trying to suggest selling her hair for use in a wig.
Also, I started a second page for that CharChat thread, but it's been ages since I last did such admin things. Please do let me know if I messed it up.
So Anke, I was wondering about A-A. (For other writers, Anke didn't have anywhere to go with the character, so she's given him to me for 'safekeeping'... hehe.)
In-characterly, where is Sylvie going to leave him? I'd like to ask that she not offer him to Suitov, because he would be delighted to accept but his writer thinks he doesn't need any more cute animal sidekicks. ;)
She's tried a couple of times leaving him somewhere, but he ended up following her, after all, so, basically, wherever he wanted to stay.
Um, just for the record, I still need to write him in stuff in the part of the timeline in which she had him.
That's no problem. You know him better anyway! And I don't know what, if anything, I'll do with him yet...
No, Weft, you can't have him.
I'm going to cork this new-fangled virgin section of the board with a question re legal and copyright issues:
1.2. My character uses [commercial game]'s rules.
If you play somebody from a trademarked species at Pro, you must make the character into a generic species. "A hellhound", "an elf" or "a vampire" is OK (or "a pooka", "a kirin"... there's a lot of mythology out there in the public domain to choose from), but a copyrighted clan or race from a commercial game isn't.
I take it this is still in force?
I would think so, yeah... Digital Economy Act's not something I have any desire to mess with. Why do you ask?
Just 'cause Dev and I would like to start a co-op in a certain gaming system/universe we like -- or at least Dev seems tempted and I'm certainly game. Also, before I have a look at DEA, I'll point out there are several chat systems that use said game world and they hardly get hassled. But! Your bandwidth, your rules. :P
It's mostly aimed at pirates, but the way they can yank a site off air virtually at whim is sad-making. Anyway, yes, sticking with generification as far as possible for now.
Roger wilco, not-flea-bitten one! o7
*awkward dogly hug!*
