Thought I'd throw this suggestion up here, because it wants to go somewhere...
Would be a modern setting.
Basically, a bunch of people is in a building far off from the rest of civilisation (hotel? "vampire's castle"?), get cut off completely (weather? power outage and only car breaking down?), and it appears one of the people there is a murderer.
Mission statement: keep alive, maybe try to figure out who's the culprit so you can stay out of their way.
Interest? Ideas?
Good question offered in chat...
Snog: I'd just like to know how realistic a modern style we're looking at.
Anke: I was thinking of something pretty mundane, ie people with supernatural powers are rare.
But it can all be negotiated, of course :P
To relativate that: I'd definitely join with Daaren (who's a werewolf) - my impression of the setting was that magic was not mundane, so anything of the "we're supernatural, but need to keep it hidden"-stuff works.
I believe Dev might fall in love with this one.
Interest? Ohh yes.
Ideas? Infernal ones only.
It does sound tempting. I have a couple of character archetypes I could expand upon with some improvisation.
Say, who decides the murderer? Should some sort of random lottery be deviced to keep the (player of the) culprit secret? :D
The random lottery idea has my vote. Very parlour-gamey. Much fun.
I'm toying with a fairly useless (in survival horror situations, that is), average-working-Joe, out-of-his-depth sort of character, if that would suit. Whatever, I'll be in.
Well, it'd be better if we had a couple of normal types, no? ;P
Well, he is a feature-writer for a website, so not entirely normal.
Ze Countessa??????
I've only seen her in old Inn posts; does she work in not-entirely-silly boards, too?
OK, summing up thougths on organisation...
- Someone will lead the whole chose, because having one "in charge" to prod things along is better than everyone waiting for everyone else in fear of treading on toes. Seems like that'd be me, if there are no objections.
- Said person pulls the name of whoever gets to play the murderer out of a hat or something, and only those two will know. (I'd give whoever the option of declining if they don't want to play a psychopath.)
- To help the secrecy along, it'd probably be better not to give out particulars about the characters you'll play yet, because if someone added a chara after the raffle, it'd be a bit suspicious. XD
- The setting is present day, society at large doesn't believe in magic and such, but there can be some supernatural personages.
- However, let's keep it subtle - we don't want someone here who can unhinge the whole plot due to unbalanced power levels.
I'll definitely bring in normal people, I'll just have to come up with them first. XD
Characters, plural?
Well, I was going to bring in more than one... 's a bit room for someone else getting killed off, see.
I'm not sure what exactly you're asking.
Just that I hadn't thought as far as how many potential victims we'd need.
In that case, I'll get to thinking up profiles. Cannon fodder woot!
Vespers and Veltzeh, I was wondering if either of you fancied joining in on this one?
oooooh hell yes. wheeee death. i mean uhm. uhm.
Mwahahahaa.
Assuming anyone's still got the murderous buzz... I have two character concepts - well, one sort-of fleshed out and one that's just an idea. Both mundane-ish humans. Profiles forthcoming once the murderer is picked out.
I had sorta hoped Dev would come back, because the more writers, the merries, is why I didn't speak up again. (and general disorganised-ness on my part)
If there's enough interest, I'd still be game.
I'll see if I can poke Dev. She's focusing on graduating as far as I know, though. :P
I'm still up for it. I need to get around to actually Twine-ing some characters though. I need to do that for this Harvest Ball thing anyway though; tonight maybe. I'm sorry for the lack of postingness lately... I've been reading along but I've been really distracted these days. Uni, mostly. And stuff.
It'd be cool to have you on board, Vespers. The more the murderer merrier!
Oh oh, pick me teacher. I know I've got the double stigma of being new and having been busy and such but I'd love to jump in on this; random murder and the tecnically mundane just screams 'Freddy' he'd like to know if we could kill a nice girl. If nothing else, it would give me a good chance to stretch out on the new board with a character I'm familiar with.
Bring on the Freddy. Just one thing - did you notice that the murderer is going to be picked at random? So it may or may not be him...
I did notice that, and it adds to the amusement for me. It'd be nice to be in a group where he may or may not be the culprit for once.
Ooh goody then. *tweaks des characters some more*
