So I had this idea the other day and I thought it would make an interesting non-frivolous story, without too much pressure to post constantly or be in it from the beginning.
You're all familiar with the Alice in Wonderland story, I'm sure. Well, I was thinking of taking the idea of Wonderland, morphing it a little, and using it as a setting.
Obviously the world would be created entirely by the minds of the characters involved. I thought I good starting point for them to wake up in, portal in, whatever, would be for Wonderland to take a gander at their worst fears, and actualize them again and again and again until they could break free. Where the story went from there is up for debate and discussion.
Characters could enter the story at any point, really, as Wonderland would change constantly - so there'd be no pressure to join in from the beginning.
Anyhoo, what do y'all think? *practises American speech, yo*
You've just described my version of hell, though I'm not suggesting we set it there (unless people want to).
*grins* It's awfully similar to my own version of Hell too, but I thought that having it outside of a Hell gives it the opportunity to have nice surprises occasionally as well as nasty ones. After all, not *everyone* is crazy and insecured and screwed up completely......
....right?
No, most of mine aren't really. *g* Suitov would walk through Hades and have a fine (and, much more importantly, interesting) time. Take Perrault from Spin Me A Yarn, though, and she wouldn't be happy there.
My hell works according to guilt, not just by picking out people's worst fears. Fearless people and innocents are basically immune. Incidentally, heaven is exactly the same, except without imps.
Anyway, this is all tangential because I don't particularly want to set anything in my Hades at this time, and I don't think any of you would like my angels...
So, we have a dream state(?) sort of place where ideas and fears can live. I like the join-and-leave aspect a lot.
Also reminds me of another setting I made up, but that's another tangent! Heh, sorry, am flaky, but it's because I like the idea!
I like it! Okay, so partially because it gives me an excuse to introduce a character - but also because I think it's a good idea! Plus, I'm just a huge dork fan of weird dream-realities.
Hm, I doubt I can get in on this... the only one of my characters who has known "greatest fears" is so messed up I don't have the nerves to enter with him.
I'll fill out the details on the board in a couple of days. Got some real life stuff to focus on first. <3
